How does the Tasty Grocery Bag work in the Tasty app?

If you are shopping ingredients from multiple recipes, any items that are needed for multiple recipes will be grouped under a section labeled “Shared Ingredients”.
What is the section labeled “Pantry Ingredients” in my Tasty Grocery Bag?
Pantry Ingredients are pantry staples like salt and pepper – items we think you might already have at home. These items will be listed in your Tasty Grocery Bag in the app if they’re needed for a recipe, but are automatically not added to your order. If you’d like to purchase them, simply tap the blue “+” button for that item, and that item will be added to your Tasty Grocery Bag.
What if I want to select a different brand for a product in the Tasty Grocery Bag?
Tap the “Swap” button under any item in your Tasty Grocery Bag in the app. From there, you’ll be able to switch to a different brand of the same product. For example, if a recipe calls for rice, and you want a different brand of rice, you can make that substitution directly in the Tasty Grocery bag. However, if a recipe calls for rice, and you want to use potatoes instead, you won’t be able to make that substitution within the Tasty Grocery Bag. Once you tap the “Check out with Walmart” button, you’ll be taken to Walmart where you’ll be able to search for and add potatoes to your order.
Why do you need my location?
We ask for your location in order to give you the most up-to-date estimated pricing and availability information for the products we show in your Tasty Grocery Bag in the app.
Are the prices I see in my Tasty Grocery Bag accurate?
All pricing information displayed in your Tasty Grocery Bag in the app is estimated and does not include tax. You will be able to see final pricing, including any additional taxes and fees once you leave the Tasty app to check out with Walmart.

In a large pot over medium-high heat, bring 3 inches (8 cm) of oil to 375˚F (190˚C).
Peel and cut onions crosswise into ½ (1 ⅓ cm) inch slices.
Separate into rings and place in a large bowl with ice water while you prepare the batter.

In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together 1 cup flour (125 g), salt, white pepper, and baking powder.
Whisk in beer and 2 tablespoons of ice water until just combined.
In a separate bowl, add the remaining 1 cup (125 g) of flour.

Remove the rings from the ice water bath and pat dry. Coat the rings first in the flour then in the batter, allowing any excess to drip off.
Working in batches, transfer battered rings to hot oil to cook for 2 to 3 minutes, or until golden brown.
Transfer to a paper towel lined rack to drain. Sprinkle with salt.
I added some garlic powder and cayenne pepper to my batter and used some yellow onions instead! Turned out great 👌🏼 I served them with ranch dressing on the side.

If you don’t have beer just use a fizzy drink like a ginger ale or club soda. You can also use chicken of beef stock. I added a packet of hidden valley ranch seasoning to my batter to make the most flavourful onion rings. Seriously the best thing I’ve tasted a while.

I always soak the onions in ice cold water for about an hour to get the inside slimy layer off, most will fall off on their own. I followed the recipe exactly and they are perfect. I don’t usually eat onions on anything, but I love these.

Tried this recipe with both beer and and cider works well with both. Apple cider is a good alternative if your not such a fan of beer. I’ve also played around with different spices.

I added some cayenne to my batter and a little salt. I used onions, cauliflower, zucchini and pickles (Yes pickles!) and it worked amazingly every time especially with strips of fish... excellent recipe! Just a quick tip I added a little extra beer to thin it out. It’s like tempura. Taste delicious with asparagus.

I tried this with red onions (because that’s all we had) and with a ‘light’ beer -it was so delicious! A great recipe.
