Pantry Ingredients are pantry staples like salt and pepper – items we think you might already have at home. These items will be listed in your Tasty Grocery Bag in the app if they’re needed for a recipe, but are automatically not added to your order. If you’d like to purchase them, simply tap the blue “+” button for that item, and that item will be added to your Tasty Grocery Bag.
What if I want to select a different brand for a product in the Tasty Grocery Bag?
Tap the “Swap” button under any item in your Tasty Grocery Bag in the app. From there, you’ll be able to switch to a different brand of the same product. For example, if a recipe calls for rice, and you want a different brand of rice, you can make that substitution directly in the Tasty Grocery bag. However, if a recipe calls for rice, and you want to use potatoes instead, you won’t be able to make that substitution within the Tasty Grocery Bag. Once you tap the “Check out with Walmart” button, you’ll be taken to Walmart where you’ll be able to search for and add potatoes to your order.

Heat the oil over medium heat in a large pan or Dutch oven.
Add the onions and garlic, and cook until translucent.
Add the jackfruit, spices, Worcestershire, and liquid smoke. Stir to coat evenly.
Add the vegetable stock and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 45 minutes, until the liquid is mostly absorbed and the fruit has broken down.
Spread the jackfruit on a prepared baking sheet.
Bake for 75 minutes, until the liquid has baked out and the jackfruit has a deeper brown color.
AMAZING! I’ve tried this recipe twice and the key to get it perfect :
- make sure the fruit is not so yellow, the more yellow, more sweet
- the original recipe is VERY spicy. I recommend to take care of the cayenne !
- be PATIENT and wait for the 75 minutes to get more dry and similar to the ribs
Loved! I paired with Vegan Mac and cheese

10/10. I used canned young jackfruit in brine. Make sure if using canned to cut off the bottom tough triangle of the jackfruit (I didn’t realize this as it was not stated in recipe). I loved everything about this recipe! I added an avocado slaw and dill pickles. So good.

Amazing, and I’m not even vegetarian. It had to simmer for a lot longer than the recipe said but that’s probably because I used canned jackfruit.

Don’t tell anyone it’s vegan until they’ve eaten the whole slider 😄 you’ll get amazing reactions

Delicious! I used canned jackfruit and only baked it for 30mins instead of 70, as it was already quite dry. Also, it’s good in pitta bread.

I didn’t use fresh jackfruit for this (because lazy) but it still turned out delicious. My meat-eater friends had no idea this was all vegan. I also cooked it a bit longer than the recipe called for in order to make it a bit crispier. It was outstanding!

Incredibly tasty! 3 cans of 20oz Jackfruit will make 4 sandwiches. The amount of spices is perfect for those who likely spicy food - it was a bit too much for one person who didn’t like spicy food. Took about 1 hour to simmer down and have the fruit break down. Baked in the over for 40min, then 10 min after mixing in the BBQ sauce. Can’t wait to make again!

For sure a 10/10! I absolutely loved this recipe. If you’re using canned jackfruit, specifically the one from Trader Joe’s, decrease your cook time about 20 minutes or so OR just keep a really close eye on it. It dries out A LOT & the perimeter of the “meat” was charred. It is also very spicy— too spicy! Would definitely make again, though!

If you simmer on a little bit higher heat (just make sure to watch it), you won’t have to bake it for as long. Baked for about 45 minutes.
Also, instead of coleslaw, added arugula, tomato, pickled red onions, and pineapple!

This was awesomeeeee! A family favorite now! I made a few changes... I didn’t bake it at the end and didn’t use as much broth! I wanted it to stay more firm and it turned out great!! Instead I allowed it to simmer in just a bit of veg broth for about 45 mins! I also added garlic powder and onion powder! Served with potato wedges!!

Delicious! My only issue was that I did use 3 cups of fresh jackfruit, but the “meat” shrank a lot in the oven. I ended up with only enough “meat” for two little sandwiches (the recipe says it serves 6). I’ll try this recipe again and add more jackfruit. I was hoping for enough to eat leftovers all week, but that’s not how it turned out.
