Trick Or Treat, Smell My Feet, Here's The Halloween Candy That's Best (And Worst) To Eat

Muahahahaha.

Hello friends, spooky season is upon us yet again!

The CW / Via media.giphy.com

Nothing gets me in the Halloween spirit quite like chilly evenings, pumpkin patches, and oh yeah, CANDY.

As a former child, I'm qualified to give you a ranking of the best and worst candies to receive while trick-or-treating. Grab your pumpkin-shaped buckets, because it's time to get into some candy!

50. Jawbreakers

Ferrera Candy Company / Via amzn.to

Please, just no. I always had the impulse to bite down on one of these, and that's the LAST thing you want to do with a literal jawbreaker. Not a fan.

49. Now and Later

Ferrara Candy Company / Via nowandlater.com

These are great if you want all your teeth to instantly fall out. I love a chewy, fruity candy, but these were too chewy. Instant dental damage.

48. SweeTarts

Ferrera Candy Company / Via sweetartscandy.com

Meh. These never really did it for me, TBH.

47. PayDay

The Hershey Company / Via bit.ly

I've always been uncomfortable by how naked this candy bar seems. You open it, and it's just ✨nuts.✨

46. Jolly Rancher

The Hershey Company / Via bit.ly

We all know that blue raspberry is the only flavor that matters. Next!

45. Laffy Taffy

Ferrara Candy Company / Via bit.ly

Perhaps a controversial opinion, but I think the banana flavor is the only one that's actually any good.

44. Popcorn Ball

Kathy Kaye / Via bit.ly

I loooove popcorn, but these were a nightmare. How do you eat it? Like an apple? It hurts your teeth and makes a terrible mess!

43. Nerds

Ferrara Candy Company / Via nerdscandy.com

Nerds are fine I guess — I just prefer them in rope-form.

42. Peppermints

Bob's / Via amazon.com

Boring, but practical. I do like a soft peppermint, but it's one of the least interesting things to receive on Halloween.

41. Mr. Goodbar

The Hershey Company / Via amzn.to

I love chocolate (as you will soon learn), but these were just never my favorite. They lack a certain pizzazz for me, IDK.

40. Junior Mints

Tootsie Roll Industries / Via tootsie.com

These belong in a movie theater, not in my trick-or-treat bucket. That being said, they're not bad.

39. Smarties

Smarties Candy Company / Via bit.ly

Honestly, I kind of fuck with Smarties. Sure, they're a little chalky and dusty, but the flavors are low-key pretty good. I don't know. Something is appealing here.

38. Ring Pop

Topps / Via bit.ly

Getting a Ring Pop felt like such a victory as a child. Truthfully, the candy is about as good as the jewelry — and both are underwhelming. You just end up with sticky hands.

37. Airheads

Perfetti Van Melle / Via airheads.com

Who doesn't like a little mystery from time to time? Airheads are honestly not bad, despite being pretty damn rough on the teeth.

36. Blow Pop

Tootsie Roll Industries / Via bit.ly

The gum tastes good for about seven seconds.

35. Baby Ruth

Ferrara Candy Company / Via bit.ly

Tasty, but not life-changing. As far as chocolate candies go, they are just alright.

34. Pop Rocks

Zeta Espacial S.A. / Via amzn.to

Pop Rocks are more about the experience than anything. It's not like they're a scrumptious, indulgent treat. They're just fuckin' rad.

33. Whoppers

The Hershey Company / Via bit.ly

I feel like this is no kid's favorite candy. My guess is that not a lot of kids like the malt taste. I never minded it, but I wouldn't seek out a box of Whoppers on my own time.

32. Starburst

Wrigley Company / Via amzn.to

Pink and red are superior. We all know it. Tropical Starbursts are good too.

31. Skittles

Wrigley Company / Via bit.ly

I like Skittles, but I can get my Skittles fix by eating like three Skittles. There is no other craving or need. They're not something I'd go out of my way to get.

30. Milk Duds

The Hershey Company / Via bit.ly

I loooove chocolate and caramel together. Truly a match made in heaven. These would rank higher if they weren't so impossible to chew. I need the texture to be a little less aggressive.

29. Candy Corn

Brach's / Via bit.ly

People love to hate candy corn, but it doesn't deserve allllll the negativity. It's literally so fine. It's sweet and tastes like honey. Grow up.

28. Krackel

The Hershey Company / Via amzn.to

Mmm, crispy chocolate. They're good, but I feel like I never see these candies outside of the Halloween season.

27. Rolo

The Hershey Company / Via bit.ly

Mmm, more chocolate and caramel! They're good, but they're kind of wimpy. Maybe the chocolate just isn't super rich. IDK. I feel like they don't have that much flavor.

26. Tootsie Pops

Tootsie Roll Industries / Via bit.ly

I actually really vibe with the chocolate Tootsie Pops. Always have.

25. Dots

Tootsie Roll Industries / Via bit.ly

I used to go wild for a box of Dots. Then, one day, I ate a few and realized how my teeth felt. Now, things have never been the same. They're good, but they will glue your mouth shut.

24. Mike and Ike

Just Born / Via bit.ly

I always used to think Mike and Ikes looked like the little Lite Brite pegs you'd stick in the holes to make a design. If you're too young to know what I'm talking about, just google it.

23. Mounds

The Hershey Company / Via bit.ly

I am a sucker for coconut, but Mounds aren't the kind of candy kids dream about getting on Halloween. They're the kind of candy that dads steal from their kid's bucket.

22. Almond Joy

The Hershey Company / Via bit.ly

Almond Joys are honestly delicious, but they are also not the kind of candy kids dream about. They're what moms steal from their kid's bucket.

21. Reese's Pieces

The Hershey Company / Via bit.ly

I like Reese's Pieces, but they are slightly less good than M&M's and slightly less good than actual Reese's, sooooo...

20. Tootsie Rolls

Tootsie Roll Industries / Via amzn.to

The fruit-flavored ones don't count, sorry. I'll maybe let the vanilla flavor have a pass, but none of that orange or cherry nonsense. The original flavor is delicious, and I don't want to hear anything about it.

19. Sour Patch Kids

Mondelēz International, Inc. / Via bit.ly

I love these little stinkers.

18. Haribo Gummi Bears

Haribo / Via amzn.to

I will always be such a gummy bear gal. I still buy bags of gummy bears as a comfort treat when I'm ~going through it.~ I bought a 5-pound bag at the start of the pandemic. Half of it remains in my parents' house. Oops.

17. Crunch

Ferrara Candy Company / Via amzn.to

Put them in the freezer. Do it. You won't be disappointed.

16. 100 Grand

Ferrara Candy Company / Via bit.ly

Sooo underrated. Also, I feel like I rarely see these? They slap.

15. Lifesavers Gummies

Mars, Inc. / Via bit.ly

Lifesavers makes some DAMN good gummies! They never miss. All the flavors are absolute bangers. I used to buy them from the dining hall market in college when I had leftover meal dollars.

14. 3 Musketeers

Mars, Inc. / Via bit.ly

So light, so fluffy. I really appreciate a good nougat. These are also good frozen (all chocolate basically is).

13. Hot Tamales

Just Born / Via bit.ly

Even as a child, I loooved these. Some kids don't like the spiciness, but they're just missing out. Cinnamon candy is so good. I'll be taking no further questions.

12. Take 5

The Hershey Company / Via bit.ly

Take 5? I'll actually take 100, please. We've never given these the love they deserve. They combine the best ingredients!

11. Twizzlers

The Hershey Company / Via bit.ly

I'm such a sucker for Twizzlers — always have been. All the flavors are good, too. I will die on this hill.

10. Swedish Fish

The Cadbury Adams Company / Via bit.ly

I don't care what anyone says — Swedish Fish are so delicious! Texturally, they are so perfect for a gummy candy. They're chewy, but not to the point of jaw pain. Put some respect on the fishes.

9. Butterfinger

Ferrara Candy Company / Via bit.ly

I've always loved Butterfingers, especially with vanilla ice cream. I love that flaky center! It's so flavorful. I feel like I rarely got these while out trick-or-treating, but I'd be excited when I did.

8. Milky Way

Mars, Inc. / Via bit.ly

I loooove this caramel! I feel like they really fill these bad boys up with the good stuff. If you take a bite and end up with a little string of caramel on your chi, you're doing it right.

7. Kit Kat

The Hershey Company / Via bit.ly

Let's get one thing straight: if you bite a Kit Kat before breaking it, you're a monster. Don't even look at me.

6. Hershey's

The Hershey Company / Via amzn.to

Such a classic. Why mess with perfection? They're so effortlessly amazing.

5. Snickers

Mars, Inc. / Via bit.ly

Snickers really does satisfy! So many yummy fillings in one perfect, little candy. So good, we named my dog after them!

4. M&M's

Mars, Inc. / Via bit.ly

Both regular and peanut M&M's deserve this glory. They're dangerous, though, because it's very easy to eat like a thousand in one sitting.

3. Reese's

The Hershey Company / Via bit.ly

Reese's Cups are little bites of heaven, and their seasonal shapes are even better! Give me a pumpkin, please! I swear I could never get tired of these timeless treats. Chocolate and peanut butter is a god-tier combination.

2. Heath

The Hershey Company / Via bit.ly

I LOVE toffee with my entire being. I feel like Heath bars don't get the credit they deserve, which is why putting them so close to the top of my ranking may confuse or anger some people. I do not care. They are absolutely amazing, and all the nay-sayers are wrong.

1. Twix

Mars, Inc. / Via bit.ly

WOOOO! We made it to #1. All hail the mighty Twix bar! Chocolate + caramel + cookies = a recipe for pure joy. No tricks here — only treats. My eyes would light up upon seeing these golden wrappers scattered throughout my candy bucket. Absolutely iconic.

Oh, how I miss trick-or-treating. Nothing beats a bucket of candy! Well, I'm dying to know what your favorite Halloween candies are. Do you passionately agree or disagree with my ranking? Tell me your thoughts in the comments, ~if you dare.~
