Alton Brown's Hack For Making Fudgy Brownies Is So Smart

If you like your brownies ooey-gooey and ultra-fudgy, this trick is for you.

When it comes to cooking and baking hacks, Alton Brown knows what's up.

So when I came across one of his brownies recipes (called cocoa brownies 2.0) that had a clever trick for making them extra fudgy, I knew I needed to share it. 👀 Because let's be honest — fudgy brownies are THE BEST brownies.

His trick? Baking the brownies in a 300°F oven for 15 minutes, then removing the brownies from the oven and letting them sit on the counter for 15 minutes. After that 15-minute rest time, he pops them back in the oven to finish baking.

The final baking time will take about 30 minutes, and Brown suggests using an instant-read thermometer to check the brownies' temperature so they are perfectly baked.

And that's it! A simple resting time during the baking process makes all the difference and creates "an ooey-gooey brownie" you'll want to make over and over again. It doesn't really take any additional work, just a little patience.

What's your trick for making perfectly fudgy brownies?
