Creamy Beef Pasta Shells

Creamy Beef Pasta Shells

Ingredients

for 4 servings

  • ½ lb medium pasta shells (200 g)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 lb ground beef (455 g)
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons nutmeg
  • 2 teaspoons pepper
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 2 cups beef stock (480 mL)
  • 1 can tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • ¾ cup heavy cream (180 mL)
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (200 g)

Preparation

  1. In a large pot of boiled salted water, cook the pasta according to package instructions and drain. Set aside.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium high heat. Add ground beef, stir, and cook until browned, approx. 3 to 5 minutes. Set aside.
  3. Without cleaning the skillet, add the onion and the garlic, stirring frequently until cooked.
  4. Add all seasonings to the pan and stir until fragrant. Then, add the flour and whisk for a minute until browned.
  5. Gradually whisk in beef stock, tomato sauce and tomato paste. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and let simmer. Stir occasionally until the mixture reduces and has slightly thickened.
  6. Stir in the pasta, beef and heavy cream until heated through. Then, stir in cheese until fully melted, about 1 to 2 minutes.
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy!
