Dessert Pakoras

Ingredients

  • vegetable oil, for frying
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (250 g)
  • 1 cup cornflour (125 g)
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 cups milk (480 mL)
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla essense
  • 1 red apple, sliced crosswise
  • 2 bananas, sliced crosswise
  • 7 small chocolate bars
  • 7 sandwich cookies
  • powdered sugar, for dusting
  • honey, for drizzling
  • strawberry syrup, for dipping
  • chocolate syrup, for dipping

Preparation

  1. Heat the oil in a medium pot over medium heat until it reaches 350˚F (180˚C).
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the flour, cornflour, baking soda, and sugar. Whisk well.
  3. Add the milk and whisk to combine. Add the vanilla and whisk to incorporate.
  4. Dip the apple slices in the batter, letting the excess drip off.
  5. Fry the battered apples in the hot oil, 2 at a time, until golden brown on both sides. Drain on paper towels.
  6. Repeat with the sliced bananas, chocolate bars, and chocolate sandwich cookies.
  7. Dust the dessert pakoras with powdered sugar and drizzle with honey. Serve with strawberry and chocolate syrup for dipping.
