Healthier Skillet Peach Crisp

This peach crisp is the perfect summer dessert! Made with fresh peaches, apple sauce, a crumbly oat topping, and a hint of cinnamon, it's both light and indulgent.

Ingredients

Filling

  • 6 peaches, halved and pitted
  • 2 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Topping

  • 2 cups old fashioned rolled oat (200 g)
  • ¾ cup whole wheat flour (85 g)
  • 3 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 ½ cups applesauce (380 g), plain, unsweetened
  • ice cream, to serve, optional

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 375˚F (190˚C).
  2. In a bowl, add the oats, brown sugar, salt, whole wheat flour, applesauce, and cinnamon and mix to combine.
  3. Pit and slice peaches.
  4. In a separate bowl, add the peaches, brown sugar, cinnamon, cornstarch, and vanilla extract and mix to combine.
  5. Spread the peaches in an even layer in a skillet, and top with the oat mixture.
  6. Bake for 40-45 minutes, until the peaches are bubbling and the oats are golden brown.
  7. Slice and serve with a scoop of ice cream (optional).
