Magic Flan Cake

Ingredients

for 10 servings

For the caramel:

  • 1 cup sugar (200 g)
  • 1 can crema table cream

For the flan:

  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup sweetened condensed milk (120 mL)
  • ½ cup milk (120 mL)
  • ¾ cup whipping cream (180 mL)
  • vanilla

For the chiffon cake:

  • 2 eggs, separated
  • 1 ½ tablespoons sugar
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • ¼ cup flour (30 g)
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda

For the egg whites:

  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 tablespoons sugar

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 340. °F
  2. Prepare the caramel by melting the sugar until brown and adding the table cream. Mix and pour in a bundt pan.
  3. Next, prepare the flan: Use a whisk or a blender to mix all the ingredients together. Strain, then pour over the caramel.
  4. Next, begin the chiffon cake: Separate the eggs and whisk the egg whites with salt and sugar until stiff peaks form.
  5. Mix the egg yolks with the sugar until pale in color, then add the milk and oil.
  6. Mix all the dry ingredients together and add to the egg mixture. Mix thoroughly until incorporated.
  7. Fold in the egg white mixture and pour over the flan mixture.
  8. Place in a water bath and into the oven for 40-50 minutes. Then, refrigerate for at least 4 hours.
  9. Once you’re ready to serve, place in a hot water bath for 5 minutes to melt the caramel.. Flip the cake over onto a plate, garnish with chocolate or fruits, and enjoy!
