One Pot Indian Chicken Biryani

Ingredients

for 4 servings

  • 2 large onions
  • 2 medium tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons ginger garlic paste
  • ½ teaspoon green chili paste
  • 1 cup fresh cilantro (40 g)
  • ¼ cup fresh mint (10 g)
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 2 tablespoons curry powder
  • ½ teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 tablespoon yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • ¼ cup butter (60 mL), or oil
  • 2 lb chicken (910 g), bone in or boneless
  • salt, according to taste
  • 3 cups basmati rice (600 g), washed and soaked for 15 minutes
  • 6 cups hot water (1.4 mL)

Preparation

  1. Mix all the ingredients (except basmati rice) together and add to a heavy bottom pan. Cook for 15 minutes.
  2. Add hot water and check salt . Add rice and cook for 8-10 more minutes on medium heat, covered.
  3. Serve warm.
