Stove-Top Cinnamon Apples

Ingredients

for 6 servings

  • 2 lb apple (1 kg), (Golden / Ginger gold / Canada / Boskoop / Fuji)
  • ½ cup water (100 mL)
  • ½ teaspoon lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon ginger, peeled and grated
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon raw honey

Preparation

  1. Peel the apples, remove the core, and cut the apples into small equal pieces. Put the apple pieces in a pot and add water
  2. Add all the other ingredients: Lemon juice, cinnamon, pepper, and ginger. Simmer for 2 minutes at high flame while gently mixing all the ingredients with a wooden spoon.
  3. Cover it and reduce the flame to medium for 5 minutes to bring to a boil.
  4. Uncover it, add honey, then gently mix again with the wooden spoon, cover it and simmer on low flame for 20 minutes. Cook until you get a soft texture. Add 5 minutes if necessary.
  5. Serve warm and/or store.
