People Are Sharing The Cheap But Glorious Foods They Shamelessly Can't Resist, And They're So On Point I Had To Add A Few

"I like the fancy version, too, but this just hits different."

Even if you're a self-proclaimed foodie, you probably have some guilty pleasures and ~questionable~ foods you just can't quit. So Redditor u/FlorbFnarb asked, "What foods are you unashamed to NOT be snobby about?" I have a feeling you're going to agree with some of these.

1. "Gas station hot dogs. I stayed away from them during the pandemic, and they were one of the things I missed most. There's nothing like one of these cheap, meaty hot dogs with ketchup and relish."

2. "Instant ramen noodles like spicy Shin Ramyun. I try not to eat it too often because it's a total sodium bomb, but gosh do I crave it. People love to tell you that making 'real ramen from scratch at home isn't that hard'...you just need about eight hours of time and three days of prep work. Nah, give me that good ol' package of instant noodles."

3. "Canned Parmesan cheese. I'm not above covering my pasta in that cheap white dust."

4. "Canned corned beef hash. That gloppy, mushy, stuff that looks like dog food with little bits of potato. Once you crisp it up on the stove and add a runny egg on top, there's nothing like it for me."

5. "Store-bought, canned salsa. I'm Hispanic, and I know that making it at home by roasting my own veggies and adding fresh pepper, garlic, cilantro, and lime tastes so much better, but there are times I just want to throw some Herdez salsa on my eggs and chow down."

6. "Microwave popcorn, the kind with all the artificial butter and carcinogens."

7. "Kraft boxed mac 'n' cheese. As much as I love fancy mac 'n' cheese, it just isn't the same as Kraft. Kraft is pure comfort food for me."

8. "Jif creamy peanut butter. I've tried it all. The $20 small batch artisan peanut butter doesn't hold a candle to the stuff that basically sustained me through childhood."

9. "Frozen chicken pot pie like Marie Callender's. I'm telling you, they actually taste even better when heated in the microwave instead of the oven, which is an added bonus."

10. "Canned garlic, aka jarlic. I cook often, and sometimes I just don't feel like messing around with the fresh stuff."

Getty Images

11. "Chicken bouillon powder. I make soup with it all the time. Boiling bones and carcasses for stock is just not worth it when there's so little difference between homemade stock and bouillon powder."

12. "McDonald's Sausage McMuffin with egg and cheese is the absolute perfect food. I will eat it for any meal."

13. "Pillsbury cinnamon rolls from the can with the glorious little plastic cup of icing that tastes like vanilla and plasticine. It's total nostalgia. I'd pick them over homemade cinnamon rolls every time."

14. "Frozen Bagel Bites. One of the joys of being an adult is being able to buy a gigantic box of them whenever I want."

15. "Taco Bell. I'll devour Taco Bell any time at any time of day. A Fresco Chicken Soft Taco with an entire packet of fire sauce, dipped in the 'nacho cheese,' is magical, and I don't care what anyone says."

16. "Canned soup, particularly Campbell's Cream of Mushroom. My family eats a lot of it. I enjoy making soup, but canned soup is the easiest thing in the world. There are some homemade soups that my kids like better than the canned versions...but not many."

17. "The bright orange 'queso' dip found in the chip aisle at grocery stores. The cheapest possible version. Hot. I can eat the entire jar, so I stop myself from buying the biggest size. When there's not enough queso to dip chips into, I scrape out the rest with a spoon. TBH, I am slightly ashamed of that."

18. "I love Slim Jims and couldn't give a damn what terrible ingredients are in them."

19. "Oreos and most packaged sweets. I won't say no to a fancy pastry if someone hands it to me, but I'd pick a pack of Oreos over a bougie macaron any day."

20. "Raw cookie dough. Don't tell me how to live my life."

21. "Kraft Singles American Cheese slices. The individually wrapped ones. I know they're complete garbage and probably contain 0% real cheese, but in a grilled cheese sandwich, it just hits different."

22. "Spam. We are a Spam household. If you like bacon and sausage, I dare you to fry up some Spam and tell me it's not delicious."

23. Nestle Toll House chocolate chip cookie dough. You can make a fancy version with expensive chocolate and homemade dough, but I prefer the store-bought kind from the freezer."

24. "I love pizza, and I'll take it any way it's available: gourmet, frozen, gas station pizza, whatever. And to all the pizza snobs out there, don't underestimate Little Caesars. It's great value!"

25. Bologna sandwiches on soft white bread complete with miracle whip. I don't care what you say — it will always taste good."

26. "Hidden Valley Ranch all day, every day. None of that 'better-for-you' hippie brand ranch dressing. I want the OG."

Getty Images

27. "Cheap milk chocolate. People give me crap about preferring it to dark chocolate, but I don't care. If I wanted your fancy 85% cacao, I'd crush up some aspirin and put it in my 7-Eleven coffee."

28. "Pop-Tarts. I've been eating them for over 40 years, and I am not about to stop now."

29. "Hellmann's mayonnaise for life. You can get away with most off-brand condiments, but Hellmann’s mayo can’t be beat."
