Seafood Soup (Sopa Marinera)

Ingredients

for 10 servings

For Sofrito Mix:

  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons ground pepper
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 cup green bell pepper (100 g), chopped
  • 1 cup red bell pepper (100 g), chopped
  • 1 cup onion (150 g), chopped
  • ½ cup fresh cilantro (20 g), chopped
  • salt, to taste
  • annatto oil, dash
  • olive oil, dash

Raw Ingredients:

  • 2 lb raw shrimp (910 g)
  • 2 lb blanched octopusblanched octopus (910 g)
  • 1 lb Seafood Mix (425 g)
  • 2 lb mussels (910 g)
  • 2 lb sea scallop (910 g)
  • 2 lb clams (910 g)
  • 2 lb blue crabs (910 g)
  • 2 lb linguine (910 g)

Preparation

  1. In a large pot, add the Sofrito with 2 cups of water, giving it a stir. Increase to medium heat until boiling. Then, add the raw ingredients with enough water to cover the mixture, adding salt and cilantro to taste.
  2. Once cooked through, add linguine and simmer for 15-20 minutes, salting additionally if needed.
  3. Serve warm.
