Spicy Sweet Potato Hummus

for 1 serving

  • 1 sweet potato, peeled and cooked
  • 15 oz garbanzo bean, 1 can
  • 3 tablespoons tahini
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • salt, to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 ½ teaspoons cayenne pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon cumin
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • pine nut, to garnish
  • 3 tablespoons water


  1. Boil the garbanzo beans until the skins come off.
  2. Remove the skins, drain, and combine all ingredients in a food processor.
  3. Blend until smooth adding small amounts of oil and water until desired consistency is achieved. This recipe usually requires more liquid, at the potato will absorb a lot! Add more lemon or tahini if needed.
  4. Add fresh veggies or pita chips sprinkled with cinnamon!
  5. Enjoy!
