  • ½ lb sausage (250 g)
  • 9 oz ground sausage (250 g)
  • ½ cup breadcrumb (75 g)
  • ⅔ cup bread crumbs (75 g)
  • ⅓ cup onion (40 g), chopped
  • ¼ cup onion (40 g), chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 1 egg
  • 1 pack mozzarella cheese, grated
  • 1 pack mozzarella cheese, grated
  • 6 bacons
  • 6 rashers bacon
  • BBQ sauce
  • BBQ sauce, to taste

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) (or 350°F (180°C) on a convection oven).
  2. In a large bowl, mix the ground beef, ground sausage, bread crumbs, onion, garlic, and egg together with your hands until thoroughly combined.
  3. Roll the mixture into golf ball-sized balls. Use your thumb to create a dent in the balls, add a bit of mozzarella and seal.
  4. Cut the bacon rashers in half and roll around the meatballs.
  5. Place the meatballs on a foil-covered tray and bake for 20 minutes.
  6. Remove from the oven and brush with BBQ sauce, then bake for 5 minutes more. Repeat brushing and baking two more times for an extra-thick layer of BBQ sauce.
  7. Enjoy!
