Old Fashioned Goulash

Ingredients

for 4 servings

  • 1 lb ground beef (455 g)
  • 1 large onion
  • 1 bell pepper
  • 6 cloves garlic
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 ½ cups veggie broth (360 mL)
  • 1 can tomato sauce
  • 1 can crushed tomato
  • ¼ teaspoon fresh basil
  • ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • 3 bay leaves
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup elbow macaroni (200 g)

Preparation

  1. In a large pan, saute ground beef, garlic, onions, bell pepper in olive oil until browned. Drain.
  2. Add broth, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, seasoning, bay leaves, and mix well.
  3. Lower heat and cover. Cook for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Add in the uncooked elbow macaroni to the skillet. Stir well until everything is combined.
  5. Cover once again and simmer for about 20-30 minutes.
  6. Serve warm.
